It is rumoured that Palacios is going to Qatar for 1m and Jerome could go to Fulham for 2m. If so then Walters will be worth 3m or more. If we sell these three it would pay for Redmond. We would still need an extra striker ( hopefully free) Then our total capital spend would be whatever we pay for Ossie. Surely Liverpool has to accept an offer below 7m when they look like getting 14m for Borini.

Late thought Steven Fletcher could be surplus at Sunderland if they get Borini and not expensive.

It all seems to depend on Bojan but I do share the view that he is a gamble. Not had the best 3 years.

gmass

1.) Well Heskey is currently a free transfer ;)

2.) Bojan a gamble?!?! are you crazy?

3.) £1m Palacios deal was done but he failed the medical.

4.) Yes, Bojan is a gamble. He has had a really poor last 3 seasons and he started going downhill (from what I've read from Spanish journalists) when a manager who had faith in him left Barcelona. What he needs is confidence in him, like Assaidi and Arnautovic. Who deals with players like that best and sorts them out? Mark Hughes. There's no doubt it would be a gamble (whoever said "are you crazy?" to that is deluded) but personally I feel it would pay off. Particularly if we could sign him on a free at the end of the year, after his loan.

5.) Palacios's move cancelled due to his medical fail

6.) Someone said Palacios failed his medical.

7.) Bojan reported to of chose stoke over deportivio

Assaidi not quite fit?

Could be a ploy to keep fee down? OR Maybe have him on loan again next season.

Even possibly delaying tactics while waiting for Ince to decide where to go

Does not seem to have a future at Liverpool so something will have to give.

With Begovics performances so far in warm up matches he has probably added a few 000. s to his value AND make him more wanted.

Hughes back off holiday next week so there could be action.

gmass

1.) Ince has rejected Inter Milan, and Capel has mentioned that he wants to play in the BPL. So let's hope we get either one of them.

2.) I highly doubt any significant transfers will take place during the World Cup.

3.) Players not going to the world cup could still move

4.) Assaidi won't move this window due to knee injury

Hi Ed Can you help out here?

At very end of Jan transfer window Stoke almost loaned a winger, French I think, possibly a Jonathon but it fell through as someone bungled it. he was due to end his contract this summer. {Ed002's Note - Jonathan Biabiany but he signed a new contract.}

gmass

1.) It was Johnathan pitroipa we went for and his club didn't do there bit of the business before the deadline

2.) Jonathan Pitroipa

3.) It was jonathon petroipa who plays in france for rennes

4.) Jonathrn pitroipa

OK OK don't let us get carried away but it seems a long time ago since a new player scored in each of his first 3 games for Stoke. Anyone remember?

It looks like we may be parting with Walters and Wilson. ( Could bring in close to 8m) rather than those we planned to lose ( Jerome, Shotton and Palacios). I think all those three will go to championship clubs before deadline ( 4m max for all three), provided no Premier league team signs them in next week.

Still think we will need Assaidi or Redmond but have a sneaking feeling N Zonzi might still leave which would swell the coffers perhaps for us to buy another striker. Then maybe even big Pete might get his wish to end his career nearer London in the Premier League.

The Sentinel is reporting that Bojan cost "only 6 figure fee". If this is true then who could possibly argue. That is a steal!

Hughes said some "high profile" players could leave - My money is on NZonzi, Adam or Walters. Any of whom would cover cost of all our purchases so far. Now THAT is good business.

Gutted!!
Yesterday my bookie offered 18-1 against Phil Taylor doing a nine darter last night even after Phil had said he thought it possible. Kept my money in my pocket. Prat!

So many names, more red herrings than an Agatha Christie who dun it.
Now Hughes is saying watch out for leavers.
I think he will try to get his second choice striker ( after Diouf) Riviere and pay upto £4/5 m - that is the guys listed value.
Any others will either be on loan or possibly bought if we manage to get around £4 m for any combination of Jerome, Palacios, Shotton. Could be extras if any of Crouch Adam or NZonzi leave.
We shall have to be careful of our UK qualified numbers.

Ed, Can you possibly say how Manchester United could get work permit for Anderson and Ji Sung Park but Stoke denied Aguledo one. There are others. Popov for one who almost immediately got one to play for WBA. {Ed003's Note - Each case is judged on It's own merits gmass.}

Is this a ruse to get Ossie to make up his mind? We are told Liverpool is not the problem. Its either Ossie, or more likely his agent, trawling him around Europe
Redmond is a good choice anyway.

Let's move on.

Have mixed feelings on this issue. I was opposed to Hughes when he first joined but have to admire his pickings (cheap but good, Pieters and Arnautovic in particular)

Now I think we have to back him with his latest pickings. To me the most significant signing could turn out to be the new centre back.

Another matter of interest is whether Bojan has a buy out clause? They seem very fashionable. If he has, how much??

Now we have to wait and see who he gets rid of. Any bets?

According to website he is a winger. Does this mean we don't keep trying for Assaidi?

Logically, unless we sell either Begovic or N'Zonzi we will only pay out for either a winger or a striker. Hughes has already said he will use the loan market.
My guess, and that is all it is, we will buy another striker and probably even get Assaidi on loan again. Not likely to get a decent striker on loan. The lad from Barca sounds useful?
The perfomances of Cameron in World Cup could also affect Stoke's thinking - or was something in mind when they got Bardsley?
Maybe move him into the middle and sell Huth or maybe sell Cameron. His price would be quite high now.
