Sobering thought. If rugby did not have TMO England would have won six nations. If soccer did have, Stoke would have beaten CP and wrong man would not have been sent off for WBA. What does 4th official do that he could not do fromcosy room watching video - apart from stopping Managers fighting.

Roger East described as " one of our best. Saying he STILL thinks he sent right man off . That shows he must be blind as well as in competent. When shall we get technology ? Figueroa challenge on Ireland not even yellow card when clearly straight red. How many more? Disciplinary panel also totally useless. Get some ex players involved. If pundits in Sky studio see blatant fouls how come review panel don't ?

Get off Wollsheids back. Look at Cameron. 2 penalties and a red card inside 4 days non of which was even necessary. He's as big a liability as Wilkinson. To think we have to play Wilky when he's not even able to get an offer from any championship says it all.

Stone looking to sign bakkali in the summer but the latest info suggests that there will be no further activity in this January transfer window

Can anyone doubt now that Stoke are not looked at fairly in regards to visas ?

How else could Paulista sign for Arsenal and Kramaric for Leicester when both had played many less matches for their Country than Aguledo
who was refused a visa last year.

Not only does it make no sense but even more baffling is the fact that the Club was not even given a reason. Surely this could be challenged on grounds of restraint of trade ?

Massive gamble. ? Could Stoke take Balotelli on loan for rest of season. Whew that really would be something. Still think we shall make at least one signing before deadline. Most likely a loan unless buying someone who would end their contract in June and his club would rather take some money rather than none. Like Bakkali ?

21 Jan 2015 18:14:40
Would have to be from summer as he has already played for 2 clubs this season

20 Jan 2015 12:09:32
Joel Campbell on loan from Arsenal ?

No way. Two reasons

1. Who would pay 8 m for a half season loan ?
2. Arsenal would not give Stoke anybody or anything.

16 Jan 2015 18:10:32
Certainly hope Stoke don't sign Lennon and dont't believe they will

1. Hughes and Coates have said not spending in this window and Hughes has confirmed he is only looking at loans.

2. Lennon not as good value as Assaidi and we let him go.

3. Lennon really never ever good enough and for 7 m we could do much better.

Redmond is another who my friends tell me is too lazy. 10 m it's a joke.

Still think we will get someone from outside UK

How many players are a PL team allowedto take on loan from outside UK?

Ed02{Ed002's Note - It depends on the conditions of the loan and if a "to buy" clause exists. And the "to buy" clause must not just be there for convenience.}

We keep hearing about consistency with refs. They all see things differently. Only way is for a panel ref to carry out reviews during game as rugby union. Classic example - Delphi got straight red yesterday, Gareth Barry guilty of 2 identical challenges. First one, no action, second - just a yellow. For good measure Chelsea were robbed of stonewall penalty ref thought Fabregas dived. We have goal line technology - how often is that needed compared with inconsistent decisions which can be judged in seconds.
Anyone agree ?

Merry Christmas Ed. Keep up the excellent work. The same to all contributors factual and fictional !!

Hi Ed,
I thought a straight red card meant a 3 match ban ?
How come Naughton gets 2 when it was his second red this season ?

Ed01{Ed001's Note - it is an automatic 2 match ban, unless it is for violent conduct, which is 3.}

I am wondering if Mark Hughes is good at getting a team playing the right type of football, but not at getting a team to fight for him. He has always had a reputation for being arrogant, even as a player, but as a manager it seems he does create an us and them divide between coaching staff and team.

The coaching staff at his previous clubs were all kept very separate from the players. They would travel in a separate minibus from the players' coach to games and not really become seen as part of the team.

Dietmar Hamann tells how, when results were not going well at Man City, Hughes went in to the dressing room and told the players that they were all in this together. He disagreed and felt the coaching staff were not in anyway in it with them. They were them and the team were us is the way he described it.

While that may be fine when things are going well, is that really the way to do it when you want players to fight their way out of trouble? You need them to have every possible motive and incentive to perform, including wanting to help you, as a manager, to keep your job.

I am not sure Mark Hughes will have that sway over the playing staff, not when the chips are down. I think it may be that tiny little bit of fight has gone out of the Stoke game, and that is why the team is currently struggling.

Ok so I know Stoke's results haven't been as good as expected so far, but are you happy with the way Hughes has the team playing?

It is early days, so the results, you would expect, will come, but it is the performances that I am wondering about. Since Pulis was let go, and the style was changed to more of a footballing style, has it become more entertaining to watch Stoke?

Stoke signed Assaidi on a 1 year loan deal. And for all you gullible people who thought SHAWCROSS would leave for 8mil!?!? Think again.

27 Aug 2014 02:11:49
Geoff Cameron wants to leave. This is bad. Good player. Mark Hughes out. Tony Pulis is available again now. Bring back the mighty lord TP to save us from our early season calamitous, aimless and frankly disgraceful performances. That'd the best transfer we could make all window. Despite MH saying we're done with transfers, I can't help but feel we NEED to invest. Heavily.

Would Georgios Samaras be useful as a back up striker. Free agent. Even more if Walters goes.

One report says Stoke would accept bid of 2m+for Cameron. It's a joke. Must be worth more than 8m. Huth is valued at 6m

20 Aug 2014 16:25:33
Stoke's incoming business is all done according to Hughes.
Sidwell - free
Bardsley - free
Diouf - free
Teixeira - 400k
Bojan - 1.2m
Moses - Loan

Total spend £1.6m! Shrewd business by Sparky.

19 Aug 2014 16:35:34
Still think stoke will sign one more player before window shuts

17 Aug 2014 17:47:44
Bet Assaidi is as sick as a parrot. Triumph for common sense over greed

17 Aug 2014 17:43:36
Hughes says no more players coming in. Do we agree? We may ship out a few. Who? Still rumours about Begovic going but most senior player certain to go is Walters.

17 Aug 2014 11:09:48
Mark Hughes has stated that Stoke's summer business is done (apart from outgoings of fringe players).
That's a total spend this summer of £1.6m!
Kightly fee was rumoured at about £2.3m so that's a possible net spend of -700k.
Very shrewd business again this season by Hughes. Let's hope it pays off.
